David Lilburn

David Lilburn

David Lilburn is an artist and printmaker. Inis Ink have commissioned David to produce a limited edition print for us; Cork. This etching is not available from any other source.

Aidan Dunne (visual arts critic, Irish Times), writes;

“David Lilburn habitually alludes to map-making in his informal, highly personal accounts of place. His works are repositories of all sorts of information, topographical and anecedotal, in the form of representations, notes, calculations, collages and asides, compendious attempts to remember lost time”.
David Lilburn lives in Limerick, where he was born in 1950. He studied history at Trinity College, University of Dublin, 1969-73, lithography at , Scuole istituto statale d’arte, Urbino, 1973 and art and design at Limerick School of Art and Design (LSAD), Limerick Institute of Technology, 1980-83.

On leaving art school he lived in the Netherlands for a few years before returning to Ireland in 1979. He taught for a few years in LSAD (where he is currently an external assessor) before moving to the University of Limerick in 1983.
He is a member of Limerick Printmakers, an associate member of Cork Printmakers and a Trustee of the National Self-Portrait Collection. Together with artist and writer Jim Savage, he runs ‘Occasional Press’ which publishes art-based books.
